Brackets

Sunrise and sunset can be daily gratitude reminders.

My favourite parts of the day are the reflective beginnings and endings. The sunrise and the sunset have equal appeal to me.

At the first bracket, we should be setting our intentions for the day.

At the second bracket, we should be full of gratitude for all the day held and for what we learned and loved.

(Brackets)

I love the brackets of the day.
First thing, the morning,
Coffee cupping in my palm
Infusing it with warmth and
Drawing Life Blood to the surface;
It is a moment
When I feel centred.
I sit.
I stare.
I wonder.
The sun intensifies and it’s time for action.

Staring outside,
I set down the second bracket
To close the day.
In my hand
The labours of many to distill the soil nutrients
Into my glass of wine
Evoking gratitude for all things past.
I sit.
I stare.
I wonder.

The sun softens and it’s time for slumber.
I love the brackets of the day
That seal the time capsules
Building my beautiful life.
